EMOBILE Ltd. and eAccess Ltd. announced today that EMOBILE submitted a field trial licence application for LTE to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The outline of the field trial is as follows:
1. Schedule (plan): Late December 2008 through May 31,2009
2. Location of base stations: Shimbashi area of Minato ward,Tokyo
3. Field trial area:
Shimbashi,Toranomon and Shiba (please refer to the map below)
4. Field trial: The field trial is planned to evaluate the following items of the LTE network system,cell design methods,and capital expenditure efficiency:
- Radiowave propagation
- Throughput
- MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) transmission performance valuation
- Applications (VoIP,streaming,online games,etc.)
- Multi-cell,multi-user test (interference characteristics,sector throughput,handover technology,etc.)
EMOBILE and eAccess are expected to be the first operaters to conduct an LTE outdoor field trial in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The companies aim to adopt LTE during the first half of 2011.
