Source: Infonetics Research press release
Market research firm Infonetics Research released the first edition of its biannual LTE Infrastructure and Subscribers report last week.

MARKET RESEARCH REPORT HIGHLIGHTS

- The total LTE infrastructure market, including E-UTRAN macrocells (enhanced NodeBs, or eNBs) and evolved packet core (EPC) equipment (MME and access gateways) is set to take off in 2009 and grow rapidly, topping $5 billion in 2013
- Peak rates, latency, and spectral efficiency are the chief drivers fueling the LTE infrastructure market
- LTE will be the universal future-proofed mobile platform, used by GSM players to offload their HSPA+ traffic, and by CDMA players to bypass 1xEV-DO rev B upgrades
- LTE subscribers could exceed 72 million by 2013 if service provider LTE plans are carried out as planned
